Not the best weather, but most people could view the lunar eclipse around 9.50pm NZT on Wednesday 29th August. A lunar eclipse happens when the moon passes through the Earth's shadow while the moon, sun and Earth are directly aligned. Further, if there is enough dust in Earth's atmosphere, the surface appears red to those who are viewing it.
Prior to 29/08/07, the last total lunar eclipse seen in New Zealand was in July 2000. Here are few pics taken from our camera.
