Taupo - A Fleeting Visit!

With the long Auckland Anniversary Day weekend, we decided to go down to Taupo for a fleeting visit.

For starters we got in some training for the Cathay Pacific run (Sun 25th February) and hit the roads. Running around Lake Taupo on a sunny morning is surely a majestic thing, however it is not unusual to get a strong head wind breeze. Despite this being exactly the case(!), all in all we felt pretty good after our runs.

We also played some golf at BayView Wairakei 9 hole course which Rich rates as one of the better 9 hole golf courses in the country (Par = 34). And for $10 it is a bargain! We both had good rounds as well - Rich shot 36 and Mel 59.

For dinner we went an outdoor Prawn restaurant and boy there were a few King Prawns to eat! The pic below is close to where we ate. On the way back after dinner, we passed this white horse which really stood out from the side of the road. If Mel could have taken the horse back to Auckland, she would have....! No joke :)
